I’ve added HD screencaps of Drew in The Stand-In to the gallery. Be sure to rent the film on any rental streaming service. Enjoy!
Saban Films has secured the North American distribution rights to The Stand-In, the Jamie Babbit-directed comedy starring Drew Barrymore in duel roles alongside Michael Zegen, Ellie Kemper, T.J. Miller, and Emmy award winner Holland Taylor. The pic was an official selection of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival
Written by Sam Bain, the plot centers on a disaffected comedy actress who is busted for tax evasion and her adoring, ambitious stand-in who she hires to do community service in her place. A co-dependent relationship ensues as the actress begins to use the stand-in in all parts of her life to escape from the stressful demands of fame. Eventually, the stand-in starts to take the actress’s identity, career and boyfriend and finally kicks her out of her own house.
Caddy Vanasirikul and Brian O’Shea of The Exchange produced the comedy with Flower Films’ Ember Truesdell and Chris Miller and Tom McNulty. Executive producers are Saban Films, Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen of Flower Films, IChristelle Conan, Anders Erden, and Simon Williams of Ingenious Media, Nat McCormick and Giovanna Trischitta of The Exchange, Misdee Wrigley-Miller, Jayne Hancock, Ross Babbit, and Danny Tepper of Wrigley Media Group, and John Jencks of J3, Joe Simpson, Jay Taylor, and Bain.
Bill Bromiley and Jonathan Saba brokered the deal for Saban along with CAA Media Finance, UTA Independent Film Group, and The Exchange on behalf of the filmmakers.

Drew is currently filming The Stand-In in New York. I’ve added a bunch of photos from her on the set. I’m so excited to see this film! Enjoy.
The one and only Drew Barrymore is coming to the Bluegrass to film scenes for the movie “The Stand-In.”
The film is set to feature the commonwealth. Wrigley Media Group CEO Jayne Hancock says that the movie is “another fantastic Drew Barrymore romantic comedy.”
Around four to six scenes of the comedy will be filmed in the Bluegrass at the end of the month.
“It is quite an achievement and it’s all connections and that’s what we’ve been doing here,” said Wrigley Media Group President Misdee Wrigley Miller.
“The film is a romantic comedy in which Drew Barrymore plays an actress who is washed up and burnt out and she decides to swap with her stand-in to live a different life,” said Wrigley Media Group Executive Producer Ross Babbit. “My sister Jamie and I have been working in entertainment for a lot of years. I’ve done a lot work for HGTV, DIY Network and Travel Channel — numerous unscripted networks and she’s been on the scripted side all these years. So the idea of being able to work together on a project here in Lexington, has been awesome.”
Shooting locations are schedule to feature downtown Lexington, including the Courthouse, and downtown Versailles.
“I think people in Lexington will be excited to see the final movie, because they will recognize their town and everything that’s great about it,” said Babbit. “When you have the star power of a Drew Barrymore coming to town and validating that this is a place to shoot, encourages others to look at us and think of Lexington and greater commonwealth is attractive for filmmakers and TV-makers.”
Wrigley Media Group is asking for extras in Kentucky. You can apply here.

EW.com has shared that Drew has been cast in a new film!
We’ll be getting double the Drew Barrymore in her next movie. Following her role on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, the actress has landed dual parts in a new romantic-comedy, The Stand-In.
Directed by Silicon Valley executive producer Jamie Babbit and written by Sam Bain, the film sees a washed-up actress (Barrymore) hiring her unemployed stand-in (also Barrymore) to complete court-ordered community service when she’s busted for tax evasion. Soon, she starts using her double for all other aspects of her life, which leads the stand-in to take over her identity, her boyfriend, and her career.
Barrymore, who’s been just as active behind the camera as she has in front, will also produce the film with Ember Truesdell, Chris Miller, and Nancy Juvonen-Fallon through Flower Films. Tom McNulty will also produce for Exchange.
The Stand-In marks the latest big-screen feature from Babbit since 2015’s Addicted to Fresno. With the cult hit But I’m a Cheerleader under her belt, she has largely moved into the TV realm, directing episodes of HBO’s Girls, FXX’s It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Fox’s The Orville, and Netflix’s Girlboss.
Barrymore, meanwhile, is planning her return for season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet, which was announced in March.
