Drew Barrymore Offers Decorating Tips, Sells Personal Collectibles on One King’s Lane for Charity

Drew Barrymore never ceases to amaze us.

Her acting career is very much alive and thriving, she has terrific fashion sense, an eco-conscious beauty line, a booming wine company—and of course, terrific taste in interior design, too!

The star is currently a featured tastemaker on One King’s Lane, where online shoppers have their pick from very cool pieces owned by Barrymore herself, with a portion of the sales benefitting DonorsChoose.org.

The items, which include quirky vintage typewriters, floral chairs, girly chandeliers, patterned glasses, retro telephones and modular furniture, are playful, eclectic and full of personality.

Needless to say each and every item is unique and intriguing and totally resonates with the actress’s charming aesthetic.

Not surprisingly, just about everything (and we mean everything) sold out in no time at all, which simply goes to show that she totally knows what she’s doing when it comes to decorating.

Her secret to creating an inviting space that’s equally stylish?

“Keep moving stuff around until you find the right spot. You’ll know it when you find it. I’ll spend hours moving a chair or a painting from room to room. Something you bought for the living room may end up being brilliant in your bedroom,” she tells the site.

And while she clearly has an eye for pretty pieces, when it comes to important essentials for the home, Barrymore proves that she definitely has a practical side.

“If you have an eat-in kitchen, I love a banquette! No matter how inviting I try to make every other room of the house, everyone gravitates to the kitchen banquette,” she says. “P.S. Pick a fabric that won’t make you want to murder someone if they spill something,” she adds smartly.

Drew, you’re a genius.

Drew Barrymore to Release New Book

You may know that Drew has a talent for photography. Well she is publishing a book of her photographs. The book will be available in January.

Drew Barrymore is upping her photography cred.

E! News has exclusively learned that the Grey Gardens star will release her first book of photos, Find It in Everything, on Jan. 14 (Amazon presale begins today.)

The 96-page book will be a collection of photos of heart-shaped objects that Barrymore has shot over the course of the last 10 years.

“I have always loved hearts,” Barrymore says. “The way that one continuous line accomplishes the most extraordinary thing—it conveys love. Hearts are my beacons. I love them man-made and natural, young and old.

“Whenever and wherever I see the heart shape, a smile spreads across my face. The heart has an unbeatable romance when you discover one where you least expect it.”

Some of the images in the Little, Brown and Company book include a discarded straw wrapper, a hole in a T-shirt and a scallion in a bowl of miso soup.

Barrymore, who joined Twitter just yesterday, has had her photography exhibited at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Just last year she shot Shailene Woodley, Victoria Justice and Isabelle Fuhrman for V magazine and Charlotte Gainsbourg in a campaign for a Tommy Hilfiger handbag benefiting Breast Health International.

I thought this was super sweet! Atlanta’s 11 Alive shares this fun story of Drew & Adam visiting a little boy named Tripp Halstead.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Hollywood paid a visit to Tripp Halstead, as Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore took time out of a movie shoot to visit with Tripp.

According to the Halstead’s Facebook page, the two stars were filming the movie “Blended” in Flowery Branch and asked Tripp to come see them.

Here’s the Facebook Post:

Bill: all I can say is wow, you never know who is reading your story. We received a message yesterday from Kathryn Covert, she is married to Allen Covert, who is best friends with Adam Sandler!! She has been following Tripp’s story from the very Tripp like he was the movie star, it was so cute!! He really did awesome, he was waving at people and flashing that precious grin of his, we also gave everyone a Teamboom shirt, so hopefully we spot them out and about (or maybe a brief cameo in the movie!!) wearing them. Tripp had a great night last night and it was so precious, in his sleep he would pick up his arm like he was practice waving lol. Thank you all again so much for everything, hope everyone has a great day!!

‘I Live for Food!’ Actress Drew Barrymore on Making Wine, Cooking Thai, and the Romance of the Food Movement

Bon Appétit did an interview with Drew discussing her Barrymore Wine and food and the enjoyment of cooking!

Instead of trying to do it all at once, Hollywood icon turned wine entrepreneur Drew Barrymore is taking it one recipe–and one grape, starting with Pinot Grigio–at a time.

Let’s start with the basics: What’s your approach to eating?
I hate women who say they can eat whatever they want, because I don’t relate to that at all. It isn’t fair! I absolutely live for food.

Favorite meal of the day?
I didn’t grow up in a traditional family and I never had a family dinner around the table, so whenever I actually had a dinner “plan,” it meant a lot to me; it made me feel excited and safe. And now that I’m an adult, dinner is a great pleasure.

How did you start cooking?
I became obsessed with food sometime in the last decade. I’m pretty late to the game. I’m such an avid magazine reader–music, art, beauty magazines–and I found that food and restaurants were pouring into everything I cared about. Whether it was the pop-up concept, or some mysterious mini-mall restaurant, I got swept up in the sexy romance of the food movement.

What do you listen to in the kitchen?
I cooked to Chet Baker the other day. Old, moody, yummy jazz is so good. Then again, I also think you should cook to N.W.A. Or Madonna. The other day, I poured a glass of Champagne and started blasting “Express Yourself.”

What do you cook for you and your husband?
I’m good at making one thing at a time, so it’s usually a one-pot situation–for now! I make this Thai peanut noodle dish with scallions, sesame seeds, and a peanut butter-Sriracha sauce with a yummy, gummy noodle type of thing. I also make Asian meatloaf, so instead of tomato sauce, you make it with hoisin sauce. And I love doing spaghetti and meatballs and having leftovers.

So, Barrymore Wines. How do you select them?
I’ve always loved Pinot Grigio. Next up, I’d love to find myself in Provence for rosé, or Argentina looking for a Malbec, or maybe back to Italy for one of the three B’s [Barbaresco, Barolo, and Barbera].

Favorite red?
I love a good Tignanello. That’s the bottle I turn to if I want to do something really special for someone.

Are you a wine snob?
Not at all. In fact, I’m sure wine snobs look at me and think, How dare you.

What’s the eating plan for your infant daughter?
I’ve been made to feel bad that I’m not steaming all of her vegetables from a farmers’ market, or for only giving her jarred organic food. But I refuse to feel bad about any of it. I wish I were that all-homegrown-food, perfect woman, but I’m not. I’m the mom with the kitchen on fire, and food on our faces, and we’re happy, singing and playing.

Drew Barrymore Talks Relationship With “Sister” Cameron Diaz: We Bro Out!

Life & Style talks with Drew about Cameron and a bunch of other fun stuff … they have given us a preview of the interview here.

Drew Barrymore may call bestie Cameron Diaz her “sister” — but they also have a bromance!

In an all-new My Life, My Style, the 38-year-old new mom dishes to Life & Style about her amazing friendship with Cam. But that’s not all! The gorgeous star answers a ton of our burning questions in the fun new interview. Get a sneak peek below:

I’m BFF-status with Cameron Diaz because…
She’s my sister, but we bro out and have crazy adventures. Most people don’t know this, but she’s very edgy.

My go-to accessory is…
A heart-shaped locket from my husband, Will Kopelman

My guilty pleasure is…
Carbs, carbs, carbs!

The fashion item I can’t live without…
Button-down flannel shirts. They’re easy, they’re grungy— but if worn right they can be more sexy than frumpy.

How to Make Drew Barrymore’s ‘Clams Montecito’

Recently Drew did an interview with Eric Ripert for On the Table. She shared how she makes Clams Montecito … well you can now make them too. People.com has shared her recipe with the fans!

Drew Barrymore loves to laugh and have a good time with family and friends. And one of the ways she’ll surely be doing that this spring and summer is with one of her favorite dishes, Clams Montecito, which she named for her home in the exclusive area of California.

“We cook a lot. We like to crack open a bottle of wine and then break out a bunch of yummy Manila clams,” she tells Eric Ripert of the dish, which they prepared together on Reserve Channel’s On the Table.

“What inspires my cooking is my daughter because I want to be able to throw things together for her in an effortless fashion,” Barrymore, 38, says of little Olive, who was born Sept. 26.

“I’m still at the stage when I’m cooking there’s like flames going off behind me and like alarms and I’m nervous and I’m not sexy,” she adds. “So I hope by the time that she’s ready to eat my food that I make it look [easy].”

In addition to her daughter with husband Will Kopelman, Barrymore’s other inspiration is her own brand of wine, Barrymore Pinot Grigio, which is described as “a straw yellow, full-bodied wine with hints of fresh apricot and lively citrus flavors” – and which she uses in her simple yet flavorful recipe. Give it a try:

Drew’s Clams Montecito:
• 1 Bag of Manila clams – the smaller the better
• 1 cup of pinot grigio
• 5 cloves of chopped garlic
• 1 large jalapeño (with a few seeds)
• 1 lemon
• 1 stick of butter

Melt butter and add garlic and jalapeño. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on medium heat in a saucepan and add wine. Cook down for about 5 minutes. Remove from stove and squeeze lemon into butter mixture. Turn on grill to medium high and spread clams on cookie sheet and spread around until they open. Warm butter up if need be, then toss onto clams and coat. Serve with warm baguette. Best served with pan-seared cod fish. Serves two.

Reese Witherspoon talks motherhood, career: ‘We need to let successful women show off’

Reese Witherspoon did an interview with Red magazine and talked about balancing a career and motherhood. In the interview she mentioned Drew and their friend Cameron Diaz.

She does, however, keep up with her two besties, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.

“They’re just as charismatic and fun as you would imagine,” Witherspoon says. “It’s nice to hang with Drew because we both just had babies, and we can support each other. And Cameron is such a funny, bright gal. She’s an incredibly sharp business-minded woman, but she disguises that side of herself. It’s her secret alter ego.”

Drew Barrymore Dishes on Date Nights with Husband

Drew talked with InTouch Weekly on doing date nights with hubby Will Kopelman.

This mama may be on the move, but she’s always got time for her husband.
From acting and producing to running her new wine label and make-up company, Drew Barrymore pretty much does it all— so how does she manage to keep her marriage to Will Kopelman alive and well, all the while juggling their 6-month-old daughter Olive?

Date nights!

“You just have to do it,” the Big Miracle star, 38, admits. “You have to try to squeeze in the occasional date night.”

Drew went on to tell In Touch what she and her hubby did on their last night out.

“For our last date night, he took me downtown for ramen noodles, which is my favorite,” she revealed. “Of course, I woke up so swollen the next day from all the salt that I looked like a puffer fish. But it was worth it!”

Thankfully, Drew feels no pressure to get back in shape after having her baby!

“I’ve never had a ‘beach body,’” the new mama confesses. “But I don’t worry about it. I probably wasn’t totally in shape before I got pregnant, but I do think I’m back to where I was. Perfect for me!”

And even before she was expecting, Drew was never a fitness nut…something she’s totally content with.

“I take care of myself,” Drew says, “But I’m never going to be the person who talks about diet and exercise—I would fail at that conversation!”
